และจากการกระทำเหล่านี้เอง ทำให้ นักบุญ วาเลนไทน์ ถูกจับและถูกตัดสินประหารโดยการตัดศรีษะ ในวันที่ 14 กุมภาพันธ์ ประมาณปีคริสต์ศักราชที่ 270 ซึ่งถือเป็นวันที่ท่านได้ทนทุกข์ทรมานและเสียสละเพื่อเพื่อนมนุษย์
